I have been processing this new world under a pandemic and focusing on painting a series of different bird species as a way to a: learn about each species b: imagine a scene that reflects a sense of lightness, space and color that might not be one in a scientific book about birds c: incorporate something that is slightly fantastical alongside the birds. The birds around us are continuing on with their nest-building and courtship as spring unfolds and are completely unaware of our human challenges with this virus, which is healing to contemplate.
